USG Corporation Donates One Million Pounds of Food and Supplies

Employees collected 290,000 pounds in 2019 for a six-year total of one million pounds that supported more than 50 local non-profit organizations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

CHICAGO – Oct. 10, 2019 – USG Corporation reached one million cumulative pounds of food and supplies in its sixth annual company-wide donation drive.

The 2019 drive collected a record-setting 290,000 pounds for more than 50 local organizations across North America. The 2019 donations were added to more than 718,000 pounds collected in previous years for a six-year total of one million pounds. Each USG plant and sales region selected a food bank, shelter, school or other non-profit organization within their community to receive the donations.

“We challenged employees to make this year’s donation drive even larger than previous years. I’m thrilled to reach this major milestone in our efforts to support the communities where we live and work,” said Diane Earll, chief human resources officer at USG. “The donation drive has grown every year since it began in 2014, and we are proud to reach our goal of one million total pounds of donations.”

“We’re neighbors caring for neighbors. That’s what makes it so rewarding,” said Julie Bushee, who organized the donation drive at the company’s Otsego, Mich., plant. “With the holiday season coming up, it’s wonderful to support our own community.”

USG employees at 42 plants, four offices and several field sales teams participated in the donation drive. In addition to giving food and supplies, USG employees volunteered more than 1,800 hours for the benefit of local non-profits.
